Vimago Veterinary CT Scanner now available at Advanced Veterinary Imaging

April 15, 2016

Advanced Veterinary Imaging of Lehigh Valley, is excited to open as a state-of-the-art imaging center equipped with Vimago , a high-definition, robotically controlled veterinary CT scanner.  Vimago is a game-changing Veterinary CT scanner that enables veterinarians to view 3D images of bone, tissue and organs. The Vimago CT scanner uses 60-90% less radiation than standard CT scanner that is commonly used in human and veterinary medicine. The reduction in radiation makes the device exponentially safer for pets and veterinarians.

“We’re thrilled to bring this technology to the pets of Lehigh Valley Area. We rely heavily on imaging devices to help diagnose and treat a wide array health issues. Having the ability to clearly see inside of the patient enables us to make better and faster diagnoses, leading to expedited treatment plans.”  Noted Dr. Carlos Hodges.

Unlike many CT scanners on the market, Vimago was designed and engineered specifically for veterinary use. The device can accommodate a large range of animal sizes, from a mouse, very large breed dogs, like mastiffs.  High-Definition CT is a new technology that has allowed the makers of Vimago, to increase resolution by 1481 times higher than that of standard CT; resulting in crystal clear, detailed images.

CT is used in veterinary medicine to diagnose several conditions that are not visible through other modalities such as ultrasound and MRI. Several conditions diagnosed through CT are fragmented medial coronoid process (FMCP) and Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) are common conditions of juvenile, medium to large-breed dogs. Other conditions include complex/articular fractures, patella luxation, spinal lesions, metastatic diseases and neoplasms, middle-ear disease and nasal cavity disease.
