Vimago: the software behind a high-definition CT platform

Operator console, DICOM viewer and cloud archive for the Vimago high-definition volumetric imaging system.

Vimago is a robotic, high-definition CT–fluoroscopy–digital-radiography platform capable of imaging an entire patient in a single series. Epica engineered the software layer that turns that hardware into a tool clinicians reach for daily — from the acquisition console at the scanner to the cloud archive that lets a specialist review a study from anywhere.

Acquisition that keeps up with the hardware

High-definition volumetric imaging produces enormous, detail-rich datasets. Our acquisition software streams and reconstructs them without making the technician wait, with live previews and protocol presets tuned per study type.

The console was co-designed with imaging staff so the common path — position, scan, verify — is fast, and the rare path is still safe. Protocol presets remove guesswork from routine studies, while every parameter stays adjustable when a case demands it.

A viewer that gets out of the way

The DICOM viewer handles multiplanar reconstruction, 3D volume rendering and windowing at interactive speed, on ordinary clinic workstations. Measurements, annotations and key-image capture are one click away.

We optimise for time-to-first-image, not raw throughput: the slice a clinician needs appears immediately while the rest of the volume streams in the background. Windowing and reconstruction run on the workstation's own GPU, so scrolling stays smooth even on hardware that's several years old.

Studies sync to a secure cloud archive so referring clinicians and specialists can review and share without shipping disks.

Built to integrate

Vimago software speaks DICOM and DICOMweb natively and integrates with existing PACS/VNA and reporting systems, so it slots into a clinic's stack rather than replacing it. Worklists flow in, completed studies flow out, and nothing about the surrounding infrastructure has to change.

Every study is versioned and access is logged, giving the clinic the audit trail it needs without any extra step from the technician.

Reliability the exam room can trust

A scanner console can't crash mid-study. We build for graceful degradation — if connectivity drops, acquisition continues locally and syncs when the link returns — and we monitor every deployed console so problems surface to us before they surface to a clinician.

Software going quiet in an imaging suite is not an option, so uptime, monitoring and a support SLA ship with the platform, not as an afterthought.

Common questions

  • Does it replace our PACS? No — Vimago software integrates with your existing PACS/VNA over DICOM and DICOMweb.
  • Do we need new workstations? No — the viewer is tuned to run on ordinary clinic hardware, including older reading stations.
  • Can specialists review remotely? Yes — studies sync to a secure cloud archive for referral and second opinion.
  • Is the data auditable? Every view and change is logged for QA and security review.

Every Epica platform ships with monitoring, audit logging and a support SLA — because in a clinic, software going quiet is not an option.
